Should you rent a store or sell on street?
It’s difficult to give a straight answer, but there is a
true story that might help you decide.
In Phnom Penh, in a local market, there was an old lady walking daily to search for box paper, steel bottles, and plastic bottles in dustbins in the market. There were some sellers in the market who thought about sharing their money to rent a store for her to sell anything she wanted to. But she said no.
Why?
The reason was that she had previously been one of the
sellers in this market as well. She rented a store where she sold hairpins and other hair decoration items. Then she saw that the earnings she got daily were for
the store fee only. Therefore, she decided to quit the business and opted to collect garbage for sale, as previously mentioned. She said that what she earned from
the garbage was in her pocket, and she didn’t have to worry about paying the rental fee at the end of the month like before. When she earned less, she spent less; when she earned much, she spent and saved some.
Hence, after you read this story, what do you think?
Should you rent a store and work hard to earn enough to pay for the renting fee? Or
should you choose to do business on the street by paying a cheap space fee? Well,
it’s your own decision.
